I'm pretty sure all of my mates are now aware that I've been back in my hometown of Glossop for a considerable amount of time now. That'd be due to Sam and his folks kindly lending me their accomodation ^^. I'm allowed to stay for longer, but DO WANT FLAT. IT WOULD BE EPIC. *coughs* I am, however, going back to Spain this Sunday for a bit, 'cos Sam and Co. are going there for their holiday. It won't kill me, I suppose <D. It might kill Rikkeh, though, 'cos I WON'T BE HERE FOR HER BIRTHDAYZ LOL... I kid, it's tragic D: >
Basically, I've just been out doing matey things everyday, like Ice Skating (which I phail at), popping into college to meet peeps and read The Guardian when no other soul is around, attending pub quizzes (which I also phail at), going to epic sleepovers (which have more often than not involved me not actually sleeping -_-), strolling around Manchester, and going to see films...
... And it's due to the fact that going to the cinema on Fridays seems to be a tradition nowadays, I've decided (to try and help me refrain from writing a load of crap you don't give a fook about in future) to start writing my own mini movie reviews D: Joo may LOL at my attempt to sound overly serious if joo wish. And keep in mind I can't go into too much depth with these things, otherwise my Journal'd go off the page... srsly... <<
I've still got two more reviews to write for the two films I saw prior to the ones here (The Mist and Hancock), so I'll edit them in later, 'kay?

MOVIE REVIEW CORNER
THE DARK KNIGHT
Can't say much about this that hasn't already been said within countless amounts of press, and the epic amount of hype surrounding this film. Basically, you need to see it.
The sense of realism could easily stand up to any other non-fictious work at the box office, so if you think comic book adaptations are really not your thing, and you'll break out in a rash at the sight of briefs being worn on the outside of some tight trousers, approach this one with no fear.
This is a sequel that truly conquers it predocessor in all aspects. The Joker is a ten times more intimidating villain than Begins' Scarecrow (who gets pwned so much [and even more in a brief cameo this time around]). The gadgets and automobiles are better in looks and functionality, and are certainly more plentiful. Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman get more well-deserved screen time. There's more action. The word "balls" is used. I'd go on for ages, but, ya know.
To give Begins credit (hey, that was great too), it got all the origins of Batman completely covered (WELL DONE TYLORE *gives self cookie*), giving us a full two-and-a-half hours to focus soley on an epic new story, and Heath Ledger's mesmerising portrayal of a brilliant arch-nemesis, who got across the dark humour and synical mind of The Joker perfectly.
If I'd have to pick out any minor annoyances, they'd be the fact that The Joker's final scene leaves his fate open to discussion (although this was probably a wise move due to Mr. Ledger's passing), and Comissioner Gordon's cliched but slightly blurry final speech that emphasises one of the blurrier morals of the story.
So yeah, if you haven't seen this yet, GO NOW. If you have, GO SEE IT AGAIN.

X-FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE
I went to the cinema knowing that I'd be seeing a flick that followed on from a rather large amount of television episodes and a previous big-sreen adventure, without having seen any of them, and therefore I had little faith that I'd get much personal enjoyment from it. Thankfully for me though, there appeared to be a minimal amount of references from the past, which hardcore fans may disapprove of. Also, as I heard from my mates, and realised myself, there was a significant lack in "aliens and stuff", so I'm not very sure if X-heads will embrace that or not.
Anywho, the majority of the film revolved around build-up; finding out whether Billy Connely's character was indeed psycic, following the gruesome murder trail, developing Mulder and Scully's strange relationship, and even discovering the fate of a terminally ill child in Scully's care. Sadly, the climax fails to deliver a full-bodied conclusion to any of these plotlines, leaving you dumbfounded as the credits sequence appears; a whole host of unanswered questions buzzing around your head, and making the film itself rather redundant. The acting was overall simplistic, with most of the dialogue, especially from Gillian Anderson, being blandly delivered at times (though I'm not sure if this is proactive through the series too).
Adaquately entertaining, but ultimately flawed by the script not managing to tie up the ends.
